About Us

Dear all,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Cambridge University Korean Society (CUKS). I am Hyung Jun Cho, and I will be serving as the CUKS President for the academic year 2023-2024.

CUKS stands to provide an inclusive platform for students who share interests in Korea and its culture, and by doing so to promote all aspects related to Korea on campus through a variety of activities that are on offer.

Over the past years, CUKS has hosted a wide range of social, cultural and academic events to cater for our members’ diverse interests. The growing interest in Korean culture in the international community has been quite noteworthy. To reflect this, we organised events such as Seollal National Holiday Dinner, Bridge to Korea Festival and not to mention our flagship cultural event K-pop Night. In addition, CUKS provides friendly social events such as Chimaek Night, MT and Formals for our members to mix, make new friends and have fun. We also organised guest lectures from Korean academics as well as a series of career talks to enhance the learning experience of our members.

As we gradually begin to recover the pre-pandemic life, CUKS will do its best to return and bring more events with improved qualities with the hopes of making our members’ experience here as enriching as possible. One key aim for this year is to expand our cultural activities that are accessible to anyone, and thus to fulfill our core purpose of raising awareness of Korean culture here at Cambridge. Recently, we have noted an increase in the number of postgraduate members of the society, and it is also our goal this year to organise more events tailored towards the interests of our postgraduate members as well.

We would like to thank everyone for their generous interest and supports of CUKS and of its activities. We look forward to making yet another exciting year with all of you.
