CUKS Seminar

The Cambridge University Korean Society (CUKS) seminar is founded by a CUKS committee in 2006. The organisation of each seminar is the main duty of the academic secretary. The seminar was first proposed by a group of CUKS members during the meeting for the vitalisation of CUKS, held at the University Centre Bar. The concept of CUKS seminar has shaped after a series of heated meetings. The CUKS seminar was formally suggested at the annual general meeting of CUKS on 15th June, 2006 and received keen interest and strong support from CUKS members.

The purposes of CUKS seminar are to promote an active interchange of the wide range of academic and social issues, to provide a ground for open discussions and, finally, to enhance close links among CUKS members, which include Post-Doctoral researchers, visiting scholars, Cambridge alumni, graduate and undergraduate students. It would be an essential event to broaden our perspectives of the world and also ideal opportunity to be on familiar terms with the real state of affairs in Republic of Korea.

The CUKS seminar will be held on every first Wednesday of the month during the full term in the seminar room, University Centre, Granta Place, Mill Lane, Cambridge CB2 1RU. English is the preferred official language of the seminar in order to share this unique opportunity with the whole University communities. However, Korean would be possible depending on the speakers as well. The seminar will consist of a 40 minute presentation, followed by a 20 minute discussion. After the official seminar has finished, there will be the ample opportunities for informal discussions over the subject of the seminar at University Centre Bar.

The CUKS seminar is free and everyone is warmly welcome. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like further details.
